Strollin' Pettifoggers - The Bug
by Robert Hedges ©

THE MEDIA AND THE BUGGING DEVICE

There are two topics mentioned in this sub-chapter, which are so interlinked as to be almost inseparable. There is broadcasting of phrases, statements, facts, and opinions, by the media; and there is the original overhearing of these same phrases, statements, facts, and opinions, if and when they originate with Robert Hedges. The microphone which overhears these phrases can be called a 'bug', and the situation can be called a 'bugging.' There are factual events which have occurred around Robert which indicate that four separate places were 'bugged.' There is no telephone tap involved at any time. Every event, statement or comment will not be included in this sub-chapter because of the invasion of privacy issue which may effect the innocent bystanders who through no fault of their own are mixed up in this series of events.

Constant feedback from the media and from individuals will alert an individual that there is this unlawful eavesdropping device (bug) around them. This feedback can at times can be both helpful and harmful. The absence of feedback does not guarantee that the microphone (bug) is gone and no one listens.

The FBI is the only agency authorized to conduct this type of investigation. When this type of invasion of privacy occurs it is a crime unless the Attorney General's office furnishes prior authorization. The FBI explained that at any given point in time there are about one such investigation in progress per million by population (John Gotti being an example). A large stack of paperwork is required in the Attorney General's Office in Washington DC, before authorization can be obtained; the cost in manpower is high; and no warning in the form of feedback is given the perpetrator/target.

The FBI has denied that they have any eavesdropping devices installed around Robert Hedges. Thus who ever has done this has committed a crime. This is a criminal act and there are statute damages for this crime. The Federal law is 18 USCA 2511 [etc] and the Kentucky State law is KRS 526.020- eavesdropping; KRS 526.030-installing; KRS 526.040-possession; and KRS 526.080-forfeiture.

The FBI suggested Robert should visit the Commonwealth Attorney's Office in November 1989. Mr. Lou Valesco was the individual who was assigned to hear Robert's difficulty. Lou Valesco seems to have left his position without telling anyone what progress he made in the Hedges case. Rumor had it in that office that he "went to work for the FBI." No one took over this case. Robert was left without a response.

A Mr Jones from the US Attorney's offices was assigned to this matter. He was familiar with the Taylorsville area, as he had been assigned to the condemnation proceedings prior to the construction of the Taylorsville Reservoir. That lake project artificially increased the demand for land and development in the Salt River valley, where the Hedges Farm was/is. Mr Jones has some of Robert's notes, from before November 1989, but Robert has not received any feedback as to who is really doing anything for him or who is working against him. Robert was ignored at several higher levels.

Robert Hedges first became sensitive to the media after the name 'A----a, which was unique in his life, was broadcasted in 1979. He noticed the how the radio could be a personal influence in his life. Who controls the radio.? He had not yet read the FCC Regulations. He wrote a letter to the Jefferson District Court in early 1979, and at that time he described this situation as a "full scale media campaign." He did not have an accurate conception of "full scale media" at that time. His desire to do something about the damaging situation in his life led to his making a factually-stated complaint of Dec. 23, 1980 to the FBI.

A Jefferson County District Court Judge Delahanty said " we hear everything you say, you figure out how". This expressly indicated that some method exists to hear what Robert says. Robert examined his glasses and class ring, and determined that since everything else about his person changes frequently, there can be no microphone on his person. He had however just had a very large cavity filled in a tooth, by a Dentist who was not a mere bystander.

53rd Judicial District Judge Ollie Bowen [n] said "I am an olphan" to Robert while sitting on the Bench in Spencer District Court in February of 1982. This rare word, "olphan" is a term for orphan from a rare volume Robert had purchased mail-order, and had read aloud while alone in the Hedges Farm house on the Lilly Rd. He then wondered if the F.B.I. was conducting some audio surveillance to satisfy themselves of his honesty, veracity and truthfulness.

After Robert was moved into his boyhood home at 6005 Bardstown Rd in Fern Creek in July 1982, he noticed a series of strange verbal exchanges from passing acquaintances who seemed to quote back to him what he had said recently either alone or out of earshot. He mentioned to Mrs. Delma Miller, then living at 6001 Bardstown Rd, and now deceased, that he knew that the premises was "bugged." He hired a Private Detective who may have had very cheap equipment to sweep the house. The result was a bill for $80., and the Private Eye's vague allegation toward some local branch Bank. (??)

Robert was unable to hire reliable ' bugsweepers ' in Louisville and spent $25. and 5 hours in Manhattan NY trying to find an affordable quality model in July 1986. He resigned himself to live with a situation he couldn't change. He assumed that whomever was responsible would finally tire on the thankless task, because it would lead to no prosecution. It did allow disruption in business, however.

The media must have been receiving indirect verbal contact, since the devices which can be placed in his proximity cannot be powerful enough transmitters to broadcast great distances. Those little FM bugs advertised in Popular Science magazine only cost about $59.95 and will broadcast up to a half-mile.

'SA', a local music teacher, and a member of Mensa, had repeated a phrase, "beached a whale" back to Robert in no context, at a Mensa Monthly Gathering, and he recognized the phrase as having leaked from the house at 6005 Bardstown Rd, where he had read it in a book and had a good laugh out loud, while alone. That phrase had nothing to do with 'SA.' This is location A.

An English acquaintance, also in Mensa also repeated a word, CLERTS, to him, which he discovered and laughed over in the Lilly Rd House, and which must have leaked the exact same way. This is location D.

Robert then discovered the series of federal eavesdropping statutes which he lumped together under the singular heading of 18 USCA 2511, and he began to plan how to compel enforcement of this series of laws. He believes that it is more than simple coincidence that local newsanchor Melissa Forsythe has broadcasted the same statute number which he chose to represent the entire series of federal eavesdropping statutes. She said "We caught 18 USCA 2511" on the air, but it remains a mystery who she meant by "we" and also a mystery who she "caught". She also broadcasted " hey faggot, still felony eavesdropping?" which originally was what Robert said as an insult toward whomever had wired him with the microphone.
Melissa Forsythe had several times broadcasted "he's out there running a vacuum-cleaner, at the very moment he was chasing roaches with the dust-buster in the Lilly Road new farm house. No phone calls were made from that house while he cleaned. This leads to the reasonable conclusion that some electronic device had been installed and some unidentified persons intent on making his life miserable were spending their time listening.

One day Robert stopped at a book store and purchased a Penthouse for $1.00, which was four months old. He went to the house at the farm and began to watch the 5:30 news, and read the Penthouse magazine. While Melissa Forsythe was making her news broadcast that day she said "I am not Kimberley and Janine". That phrase was the title of a pictorial of two women in that particular Penthouse. Robert does not believe that this quote is a coincidence. Melissa Forsythe made further references after he approached her, which are a natural result of his direct communication, and these do not represent clues to any crime. An example is "We know what Dale wants", which she said after Robert made an effort to communicate. She broadcasted " he has a machette" on the news one evening. Robert spent some of his time chopping weeds and small trees, which was both good exercise, and necessary maintenance on a farm.

Robert Hedges made efforts to get a friendly communicative response from Melissa Forsythe, who was doing the late news in 1988. He was rebuffed by a male employee of WHASTV 11 who called him a ' GAY' , and threatened him with arrest on fabricated "stalking allegations" in Aug./Sept. 1989. Robert visited the Detectives who would handle such a complaint immediately, to prevent any misunderstanding. Robert later applied for a job at WLKY TV 32 and heard a vague reference to this situation at their door from the Channel 32 security guards.

85/ / =The Taylorsville Sheriff Larry Lawson said "Don't blame it on Robert Hedges " while reporting about a kidnapping/murder to the press of T.V. This is a poor way to put a persons name before the public.

Local newscaster Loretta Harris broadcasted the erroneous "smoked a pound of LSD" phrase while at WAVE TV 3 in 1986. This came from Robert but is not a clue to a bug. It is a clue to a tortfeasor who might try to set a bad example for young people.

The Gulf Food/Gas Station located at 5301 Bardstown Rd, (502) 499-8845, was wired for sound, and customers could tune in and listen to events there. Customers could enter and repeat events or statements from inside the building which had occurred a few minutes earlier, as if the inside microphone was wired to all the outside speakers and was always on, but these customers were in their automobiles in the street when conversations took place inside the building. Some customers could and did harass Robert in this manner in the earlier weeks of his employment.

Robert began to "broadcast" from Station "GULF" after these first nights, confident that not many verbalizations were escaped the scrutiny of the listener, whoever they were. He had, on his 4th or 5th night, mentioned to a couple of Jefferson County Policemen that the place was bugged, although he was not conceited enough to assume that he was the reason because of the costs and time involved. A young woman who was previously employed there had disappeared. The missing person case was still open. He thought that this was just a coincidental 'bugging.' This is location B, for BP, which purchased GULF and renamed all the stores.

On Sunday night, the 20th of November 1989, as Robert worked the third shift, he experienced dizziness, an complete inability to count change, and blurred vision. He loudly verbalized that "I'm pretty wierded out right now" while he was alone in the store. Moments later WLRS-FM broadcasted that same phrase in its complete form. That phrase originated in a 1968 Penthouse. Who would have a copy of an old Penthouse around to randomly quote ? (not a coincidence). He went to the V.A. Hospital, on the 21 November 1989 to have some tests for the cause of the symptom, dizziness. There was a hearing scheduled on this Monday the 21st of November in the Farm case, but it was quietly cancelled just a week before.

Robert broadcasted from GULF in Dec. 1989 that "I am the player, GENIE is just a bystander, and You're not supposed to shoot down bystanders ". The FM Radio DJette, named Kat, responded in about ten minutes that "GENIE is a Player". This was about 2:am. He experienced absolute proof of the working microphone there every working night, and needed no further corroboration.

He offered topics of his discussion each work night, and these topics and his opinions and comments were repeated and accepted by the customers, who were presumably his listeners. He had broadcasted for one-hundred or more nights, three hours or more per night in the several months which followed.

Buzzy Parsons was a customer whose name was broadcasted from the GULF in Jun of 1990. He soon after stayed in the VA Hospital for several days. Did something happen to him because of publicity which he received by being in the store?

Robert gave a ride to a local who was a defendant in a marijuana-growing case in Spencer Co. This unfortunate defendant told Robert that a local official was dirty. This unfortunate defendant was in the marijuana growing/selling business and had no reason to believe that Robert either used or grew marijuana, so the information he imparted would seem reliable based on lack of different motive. Robert relaxed for a while, and he made a lO pm called the DEA from his usual Fern Creek pay phone, without giving the DEA his name. He suggested that an offer of a deal to this unfortunate defendant might net a bigger fish- the official. Robert believes that dirty officials are a much greater evil than a mere criminal. He was asked by the female DEA phone person if he was Robert or John (his brother) which led him to think, "well I guess I'm stuck with the bug, until they grow weary of the waste of man-years in an fruitless investigation. " Voices may sound alike when overheard on cheap equipment".

Robert Hedges received a letter from the Census in the mail on Friday Apr. 1, 1990, and laid this sealed letter aside until after work Saturday night which lasted until 7:45 am Sunday morning. Robert retired to sleep in an empty parking lot in his auto, and he tuned into FM 102, and opened that letter at about 9:am. Robert was offered a temporary census job and if he accepted the work he was to report to the Census Bureau in Jeffersonville on Monday morning. Robert Hedges made the decision at that moment to accept the census offer, and then he went to sleep. The fact that Robert was going to be at the Census Bureau on Monday the 4th was broadcasted on FM before 3:20 PM. Robert Hedges had just made that decision some seven hours earlier, and he believes that the most likely source of this fact would have been an electronic device in his auto, rather than from some census employee. He could rule out the Gulf station device as responsible for this because he did not open the letter or decide until after he left that location. He assumed the name or "Handle" "Rogue Radio" and Station C.H.E.V.(rolet) to represent his 'bugged' auto. This is location C

Robert drove through Fern Creek KY one day in his Chevette broadcasting "Rico Conspiracy", as ROGUE RADIO and this was picked up by KISS, FM 104, in a very short time. ROGUE RADIO has also broadcasted a CHALLENGE, on 48 consecutive days, "THE GAUNTLET IS DOWN", which was heard and rebroadcasted by Milton Metz on the old 84 AM "Metz Here"show in October 1991, before Robert purchased a CB radio. He knew that his auto was a rolling studio after some UnivLou students mentioned to him the statements he was making while driving alone to class on 3rd Street in his car. (location C) He frequently made statements when alone out of anger and frustration. Speech practice while alone is desirable. Several students from his classes gave him feedback like this.

The constant feedback from the media reveals that there was/is this unlawful eavesdropping device frequently around, and it can at times be both helpful and upseting (harmful). This situation frequently interferes with work and Robert's employment does not last long enough. If the media ceased to give him feedback, he would have no guarantee of privacy. This situation has continued for years, and without help from the media, and witnesses for factual testimony in court, he would still be unable to prove the whole conspiracy.

Other portions of this original chapter are deleted, as are names of young women and others who have been broadcasted by the media.

After the Chevette (Statio CHEV) broke down in August 1991, Robert purchased another Chevette and installed a CB radio, just because he was used to communicating with others via radio which the 'bugging device' had allowed. The frequency is different on the CB Chanel 40, and so the listening public is and must be a different group.

There is much more to this chapter, but enough has been posted on this topic, until the unwary debater begins to write the doubts and call Robert crazy. Remember that technology has advanced rapidly and the use of 'bugs' is easier, cheaper and more likely and brobably common than ever before.

[n] now deceased, and not equipped with a full memory at their final meeting in early 1989. Judge Bowen repeated five times then "where is it" (the farm) "but where is it". Loosing ones mind must be sad.
