A conspiracy at the Census bureau - Judy Mink
by Robert Hedges ©
Certain events have occurred since I've been transferred to PES Library concerning Robert Hedges. Basically they were:
He asked was I married - I replied - no, but I live with my
x-husband who weighs 300 lbs and takes no harassment or lets
anyone bother me or my kids.
Another time he told several of us he was arrested for harassing a girl at Toy Tiger. He laughs for no reason and talks to himself. One
day back in between shelves (Group Quarters) every time he walked
behind me he "growled". I asked a girl who sometime talked to him what his
problem was and she said she'd ask him.
On two different occasions he let me out in front of him - in
parking lot - then followed me. After seeing him in my rearview
mirror, I changed direction and went away from my house because I
have two children and I don't trust him - eventually he turned
and I went to a friend's for an hour or so just to make sure
before going home.
I know of two other people he's followed
and of one girl he scared so bad she took a
day off - that's not fair to her to use her time because she's
scared.
I'm not presently scared of him - I would refuse to work alone in
a back row of library though - with him - if told.
My main concern is my children - my son walks from bus stop and
is in my car waiting when I get off and if he ever even looked funny at my daughter
(or son) I'd probably do something drastic - not probably - I
would.
The main reason I agreed to do this is because of the younger
girls that are really scared and because of my concern about my
kids.
Judy Mink 31 Oct 1990 - for use in investigation
I understand that Judy Mink has been treated by the census bureau
for drug and alcohol abuse.
I never ask Judy Mink if she was married, but she volunteered
(unsolicited conversation) that she had a boyfriend and a
husband.
In a light vein, conversation may turn to these chit-chat topics
as coworkers are normally seated as a group at work.
I need not address the issue of whether any clerk is in the
National Rifle Association. I care not. This is more usual
chit-chat.
The issue of names on the radio:
Yes, {{ a discussion originally solicited by Kathleen }} due to absences from
work, which I explained as arrests for failure to appear in
court"
#2 - In June I attended (court) on a few hours leave, saw no one
else (witnesses, related individuals) was present, spoke with the
prosecutor briefly and returned to work. And then later was
re-arrested as a no-show. I have decided to remain away from the
night club where this turmoil originated.
Does my voice sound like a growl? What merits this attention
through the book shelves ? {{ these girls eavesdrop on me, and
then claim I am talking to them }} I never say damn, and never
say damn horny, or said this {{ word or set of words}} here.
The allegation that my automobile follows someone else's auto as we leave the parking area
is ludicrous. Where is traffic to go. ?
Should I complain that "auto's are following me"?
I can account for my whereabouts
as I leave here. I did not realize that the highway was so
exclusive.
I do not intend to get too close or invade other's space. But
this attack is too much by too many too suddenly. Work space is
used here.
Her allegations of following people or scaring people need
first-hand testimony. Hearsay is not more than a second-hand
neurosis.
This last paragraph, a threat if I looked funny at her
unidentified children, who are not here at the census is just
that A Threat, based on her definition of "look funny" .
Has she been cured by the medical unit here ? Am I in danger?
Should I pursue this ?
I believe she is threatening to the family I intend to have, and
children are our most lasting important creative endeavor.
{{ You may rest assured that of the clerks I was assigned to work
with Judy Mink was among the last I would ever be likely to ask
to fool around. Her history as a space-cadette would have
rendered me impotent, from fear of her children. You don't want
to have to defend yourself from vague false allegations with such
truthful revelations. }}
{{ The DJs on the radio frequently tell jokes.
Many census employees wear radios and headphones. I wore mine
every day. }}
He then asked if I fooled around and first I said " No " then told him it was none
of his business. He then proceeded to ask
three or four other clerks sitting around
the same question.
Most of the girls live alone with their children so we made it a
point next day or so to let him know - by talking outside at
break - that we all own guns and are good marksmen.
On several other occasions he talked about hearing your name on
the radio - if your name is on the radio -
you die - or something happens bad. He also
said he heard Art Stewart's name on the radio and couldn't figure
why he was still here.
She asked him what was wrong and he said "I'm
damned horny". So we all stayed away from
him. We usually stay away from anyway because of the smell.
He gets in your face - if you will " invaded your space " when
he does talk to you and that bothers me.
That's basically my comment/statement on Robert H.
Robert Hedges responds:
The radio made two specific broadcasts where the "name deleted"
is dead" was the topic. This was last year, and were not my
words, just a radio broadcast, nor did the words die ever, to my
knowledge, become mixed into the conversational arena of lunch.
Here we seem to have one or more women who have through paranoia,
or fantasy decided to interpret any lunchtime chit-chat as some
ominous threat against them or their children. These are baseless
criminal allegations, and to include children or teens as
possible victims is sick, based on their paranoia or delusions.
They can create a climate of fear which is very unhealthy.
#1 - on assignment Friday, April (14, 16 or so) I stayed in PCS,
so as not to endanger my new Quality Assurance Assignment. I did
not wish to leave, or take leave after only two weeks, since I am
a new temporary, and my job is very important to me. I had no
card from the now dismissed District Court case, with a date for
reappearing; and waited until after work to attend at 4:20, since
the date was in doubt in my mind.!
