Nose talents

Human skin has a higher density of scent-producing glands than most other animals.
sebaceous glands exude oils which contain microbe fighters and protect the individual.
sweat glands exude water and salt and truly is odorless.
apocrine glands - operate after puberty - exude chemicals which support bacterial growth.
anandamide - receptor site stimulant
androsterone - steroid described as second to last in pleasantness smell test.
VNO - vomeronasal organ bypass awareness and effect the primitive brain. It creates irresistible, attractive, and mediate impressions. Many smells do not register in the conscious mind, but the vomeronasal receptors fire rapidly, indicating heavy subconscious responses in the brain.
Intensity of scent did not increase the unpleasantness of near MHC (Major histocompatibility complex) scents.
Wider range of resistance to disease with more co-dominant genes. Inbreeding is avoided by choosing MHC-dissimilar mates. Immuned system shared genes code for disease detecting structures.
Like-MHC frequently spontaneously abort.
The "birth control pill" tricks the body into reversing smell preference.

The NOSE and a sense of SMELL
olfactory neurons are constantly replaced, unlike other neurons - nature does not do this just for fun - 50% removal of olfactory senses will be compensated by new neurons, unlike damaged or destroyed visual or spinal neurons.
Apocrine is a strong-smelling chemical which the human creates when aroused, excited, and/or frightened, at the underarms and genital. It is most plentiful in the:
black male.
Caucasian male.
oriental male.
females.
heavy molecules cannot be sniffed
skin acidity controls bacteria, as well as diet.
Hindu use no cologne or perfume - but are very clean due to soap
European soaps are poor by comparison
Christianity frowned on bathing, for it lead to sexual bathing. Remember King David and Bathsheba.
body odors are produced by bacteria metabolizing secretions from various skin glands.
. . and then there is this theory of the
nose
mouse male's urine smell will speed puberty of mouse females.
mouse female can bear young only for the last male whose urine she smells.
a mouse female will nest near like-smelling mice after breeding w/ her different-smell mate.
Dietland Muller-Schwarze - mammal pheromone scientists.
Chicago scientists BK Krotosynski - human body odor signature - scientists.
The vomeronasal organ bypasses awareness and effect the primitive brain -
it is based on irrestible, attractive, mediate impressions. This is the nose at work. Smells go a very short route into the brain.
the lymbic system = appetite, mood, sexual & memory
VNO. UKentucky was doing olfactory studies in 1992
